Formed in February 2025, The North are one of the freshest sparks to fly from Leeds’ ever-thriving indie scene. Don’t let the newness fool you — their live show already carries the kind of energy and conviction bands spend years chasing. Fronted by singer and guitarist Billy Memphis, who moved from Scarborough to Leeds at 16 in search of something bigger, the band came together with drummer Sian Keates, guitarist Kobi Griggs and bassist Mecca Boylan.
