plantoid
Plantoid are a band shaped by motion rather than destination. Emerging from the UK underground, they’ve built their reputation on live shows that feel more like sustained events than straightforward sets, with songs that stretch, mutate and reconfigure themselves in front of you. There’s a sense of curiosity running through everything they do — a willingness to follow an idea wherever it leads, even if that means letting it unravel along the way.
Rhythm is the engine. Bass and drums lock into looping patterns that feel insistent and physical, creating a foundation that allows everything else to roam. Guitars flicker between abrasion and melody, sometimes locking into the groove, sometimes pulling against it. Tracks unfold gradually, building tension through repetition and subtle shifts rather than big, obvious pay-offs, drawing listeners into a shared headspace that’s hard to shake.
What makes Plantoid compelling is the balance between discipline and abandon. For all the extended passages and hypnotic structures, there’s an urgency to their playing that keeps things grounded and alive. Nothing feels overly polished; edges are left rough, moments are allowed to breathe, and the music gains energy from that looseness.
Shades of Gong and Ozric Tenticles in the track Dog's Life featured here :)
