Joshua Idehen
Joshua Idehen is a poet, musician and spoken-word artist whose work feels like ideas given wings. Born in London to Nigerian heritage and now based in Stockholm, he has carved out a unique space where poetry, rhythm and emotion meet, unfolding across jazz, electronic and dance-inflected landscapes with a voice all his own.
Idehen’s art began in words — sharp, lyrical, thoughtful and often playful — but it quickly found richer expression once paired with sound. He’s contributed poetry to Mercury-nominated albums by groups such as The Comet Is Coming and Sons of Kemet, and collaborated with a wide range of artists from spiritual jazz ensembles to LA electronic producer Daedelus. His solo work with producer Ludvig Parment (aka Saturday, Monday) blends subtle house grooves, soul, jazz and spoken word into something both moving and kinetic, the kind of music you might dance to and dwell on in equal measure.
Tracks like Mum Does the Washing show his gift for turning social observation into poetry that’s witty, sharp and incredibly human — a poetic critique that still manages to make you feel and groove at the same time.
