Fenwick Ridley might not look like your average athlete, but then there’s nothing average about what Fenwick does… The bushy-bearded, gentle giant is in fact a gold medal-winning endurance ice swimmer!
To the uninitiated (that's us), ice swimming might not sound like a ton of fun; but Fenwick is here to explain how a quick dip in cold water & a Sauna session isn’t just physically good for us, it can also help people struggling with their mental health.
Fenwick is back for his second outing at Deer Shed, but this time running the Sauna and Ice Baths package at the festival, we are super glad to have him back and share his pearls of wisdom to our Sauna and Ice Bath customers.

Heat Up your Soul with Fenwick Ridley
Guys, we’ve found it, the best thing since sliced bread; it’s a sauna run by the Ice Viking himself Fenwick Ridley. Working with towel movements, heat is sent around the tent hitting all parts of the body. Mixed with a chill dip in the ice bath it's incredibly rejuvenating with amazing benefits.

We've invited Fenwick Ridley back in partnership with Brass Monkey to run a series of Ice Bath and Cold Plunge sessions to kick start your metabolism and focus your mind like nothing else.

Wild Swimming

Soaring in popularity, wild swimming is a fantastic way to keep yourself physically and mentally refreshed. Our Blue Tonic seasoned swimmers will explain how submerging ourselves in cold water can have a unique metabolic effect on both our bodies and our minds.

Blue Tonic
Hosted by the charity Bluetonic wild swimming is back. Bluetonic are a charity dedicated to teaching people about the positive effects on health and wellbeing related to spending time in, on and around water.
Your hosts will be:
Scott Clayton, the charity founder and Blue Mind Movement Ambassador. Scott is an experienced wild swimmer and open water swimming coach.
Matt Jones, a charity volunteer who is an experienced wild swimmer and leads the Wave Project in North Yorkshire. Which uses surf therapy to improve local Children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Wild Swim Extra with Emma Estrela)
This year, in addition to our Wild Swimming sessions with Blue Tonic, we have Wild Swim Extra. A Wild Swim Session with a difference. Led by experienced Wild Swimmer and Whim Hof Instructor, Emma Estrela, with support from the Blue Tonic Team. Emma Estrela the only Level 3 Wim Hof Method instructor in the UK. Emma will be leading the Wild Swim session and giving a masterclass in the incredible rejuvenating powers of cold therapy and controlled breathing.
Sessions will take place in the festival health and wellbeing area, providing access for participants to the beautiful River Swale. The entry point is via a pontoon that’s dropped down beneath the riverbank tree canopy. This helps creating a feeling of instant absorption into nature for swimmers coming along.

Run2Swim
As part of our Wild Swim programme this year, we bring you a new addition to the programme. Our new Run2Swim session.
Our unique work out combines the best of both worlds: the energizing freedom of running and the refreshing buoyancy of swimming. After conquering the trail you will transition to the tranquillity of the River swale with the Blue Tonic team .

Gong Bath Sessions with Go Yoga
You might have already heard whispers (or should that be Oms?) about Gong Bathing as it’s quickly becoming one of the coolest ways to unwind.
We’ve invited seasoned practitioner Sophie Bickerdike from Go Yoga to lead a special Bathing session here at Deer Shed this year, which will help us to unify our bodies and our minds after a bit too much fun over the weekend.
Using a carefully curated combination of gongs, natural sounds and frequencies, Sophie's session will re-energise our minds and cleanse our souls. Our bodies, however, will still need a good old-fashioned scrub unfortunately!F,DI.

SUP Pilates with C2C Outdoors
Attention festival goers! Are you ready to elevate your festival experience to new heights of relaxation and fitness?
Introducing SUP Pilates -a dynamic fusion of stand-up paddleboarding and Pilates that will leave you feeling rejuvenated , balanced and blissfully connected to nature.
Led by our friends at C2C Outdoors join them to be gently glided across the tranquil waters of Baldersby Park serene lake, surrounded by the beauty of nature and excitement of the festival atmosphere. Led by C2C's experienced instructor join them for an invigorating Pilates session unlike any other.

Rock Balancing and Mindfulness
Rock Balancing can be a play, a spectacle, a devotion, a performance or land art depending upon the interpretation by its practitioners and the audience.
Its also often seen as a active form of meditation which you can get lost in for hours. It comes with several benefits for the practitioner especially if its done for the pure joy of balancing. That may change if it becomes a artistic job because in that moment another goal is added to this activity. Join the team to learn and practice this art form across the weekend, alongside learning about how this craft entwines Mindfulness at it's very core.F,DI.

Morning Rise Yoga
Got that Saturday morning beer fear? Felt a little too hungover from the night before , Have no fear, our Yoga team.
We’re talking super chilled out yoga here… we will help you stretch out all those tent induced aches and pains (maybe the odd sore head too) with plenty of time for relaxation at the end. You can just lie down and breathe if you like, yogi’s choice as always.

You might be wondering just how your friends manage to squeeze yoga into their lives between the daily commutes and school runs but, once you’ve tried it, we think you’ll understand what all the fuss is about.
We’ve invited Martin Jameson (MJ) from the Go Yoga Team to create a wonderful revitalising and refreshing morning flow. MJ likes to use beats and festival tracks to get you moving, expect to stretch, revitalise and keep it calm in all circumstances. Story Yoga with Enchantica
Enchantica present a family well-being adventure designed to help everyone shine bright. Fairy Suzie will guide you on a sing-along story adventure combining children's theatre and well-being practices inducing yoga, mindfulness, sound healing and oodles of magic!
This interactive story telling show is designed for families to enjoy together from babes in arms to the elders in your family… everyone is welcome on this playful immersive adventure. Yoga and story telling what more could you want for all the family.F,DI.

Gentle Morning Vinyasa with Alex
Alex Gray, from the Go Yoga Team, is a busy working mum with a love of yoga which just emanates from her being. She describes Yoga as her greatest teacher, teaching patience, kindness , understanding and stillness.
Join her for a refreshing morning flow, with some tricky moves for those experienced and adapted moves for those newbies to yoga. It’s going to be early so we will catch the morning rays with relaxing breath work, gentle vinyasa and a soothing relaxation.F,DI.

Caribbean Carnival Dance Party
Great news, Tricia is back with her fun-filled, sun-soaked Carnival Workshop!
You’re never too small or tall to treat yourself to a slice of the Caribbean, so don one of Tricia’s marvellously multicoloured scarves and take inspiration from her incredible carnival costumes as you learn how to dance, Island style.
Whether you’re a Carnival connoisseur or this is your first foray into festival footwork, Tricia’s workshop will have you grinning from ear to ear and dancing for days.F,DI.

Prime Wellbeing
It’s not all rock’n’roll, side-splitting comedy and madcap activities here at Deer Shed (well, it mostly is) - Prime Wellbeing are on hand if you or someone you’re here with could do with some ‘me time'.
Whether you danced that bit too hard last night or Mum’s woken up with the dreaded airbed backache, Prime’s multidisciplined team of masseurs are back again; offering reflexology, body massages and holistic facials to help us relax from head to toe.
