Aayushi

Aayushi

Aayushi is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter from Birmingham, UK, with Indian heritage. She writes strikingly tender songs, delivering them with an intimacy that has often been described as the sonic equivalent of a warm hug.

While she draws comparisons to contemporaries like Julia Jacklin and Rachel Sermanni, her earliest musical influences come from the lo-fi, fuzz-folk world of Neutral Milk Hotel, Bright Eyes, and The Microphones.

At 17, she began to share her compositions with the world, self-releasing a host of singles that have garnered her a global online following. With support from the likes of BBC 6’s Fresh on The Net and BBC West Midlands, her music has graced Spotify’s ‘Most Beautiful Songs in the World’ and ‘New Music Friday UK’ playlists, racking up over 7 million Spotify streams to date.

She was recently selected from a national open call to join the UK New Artist Collective, a cross-disciplinary group of 18 artists with a shared goal to champion creativity and inspire communities across the UK.

2022 saw Aayushi move into Birmingham’s live performance spaces with a surprising ease, and in 2023 she completed her first summer tour across the UK, highlights of which included Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival, a slot on the Purbeck Rising stage at Purbeck Folk Festival, and opening for Birmingham’s Poet Laureate at Birmingham Festival ’23.
