Frankie Archer

Frankie Archer

When not riding bare back horses under pink skies, Frankie Archer is making quite a name for herself in the world of folk. Even this promo shot of said sky and horse gives us a bit of a clue that this is not folk music on an 'all around my hat' tip :)

For it was foretold that one day electrickery would give unto the world such items as Maschine groove boxes and vocal harmoniser gizmos. And that the girl on a white horse would usher in a brave new world.

And so, in an ultra-refreshing way, Frankie takes a familiar folk vocal tradition and mashes it up with a suite of modern music production delights. Highly commendable. I hope she doesn't take any flack for it from the heave ho-ers .

It works really well of course. The electronics providing a new source of drones and pulses that don't need to be fuelled by real ale, although it must be said that the more traditional instruments are not excluded entirely.

Described as "Extraordinary" by Jools Holland and "Gorgeous trad playing and creative vocal twists... a fascinating and intoxicating blend of the contemporary and traditional" by Mark Radcliffe, Frankie has already made folks sit up and pay attention.

Roll on folk based house music - whatever next! Don't miss Frankie, she is the future.
