Bess Atwell

Bess Atwell

I write this as Bess Atwell has just opened for Ed Sheeran at the Royal Albert Hall; if I’d had the pleasure of attending (as a business expense obviously) I’d be the only person to leave before the headline. And that has very little to do with her…

The Brighton based artist has already played Deer Shed in 2019 on the Lodge Stage, before the release of her debut album Already, Always. The Deer Shed team pick 'em well it must be said. My fav tracks from that album, are Love is Not Enough and Red Light Heaven, so check them out! But she is back for 2024 with her new single Slyvester and a second album at the end of April just in time for the festival season.

Combined with a crystal cut voice and emotionally nuanced lyrics, she creates tracks that manage to be relatable as well as deeply personal and all set to a classic but relaxed indie sound. Widely enjoyed and on the up, she has been played continuous on BBC 6 Music.

To conclude, she is approved by me and my close personal friend Ed Sheeran meaning she is a must see at Deer Shed this year! You will find me on clash finder uploading my shift patterns to compare to the lineup :D
