Shaparak Khorsandi
Shaparak established herself as one of the country's sharpest comedians in 2006 with her sell out Edinburgh Fringe Show, Asylum Speaker. The show told the story of how her family were forced to flee Iran and gain asylum in the UK, due to her father's popularity as an anti-regime satirist. As Shaparak puts it "obviously there's free speech in Iran, but little freedom after you've spoken."
Over 16 years as a pillar of the comedy scene, Shaparak has always taken great pride in being a "spit and sawdust" stand-up. One of her favourite things is pulling on her wellies, trudging through muddy fields , and performing at eery music festival with a comedy tent, from Glastonbury to Deer Shed, we welcome back Shaparak as our Sunday comedy headliner.
