Tickets for Base Camp Plus have now sold out, however, we do have a waiting list that you can sign up to here should places become available.

Welcome to Base Camp Plus, the 2021 socially distanced camping festival!

How we got here!

The full fat Deer Shed Festival has once again been postponed (until 2022). However, all is not lost and we would love to welcome you to Base Camp Plus on the July 30th - August 1st weekend!

We were forced to postpone Deer Shed due to the lack of commercially available COVID cancellation insurance or a government backed insurance scheme. Financially speaking, Base Camp Plus is a much smaller event and is broadly within tolerable limits in terms of financial risk for us as an independent promoter.

Last year we ran Base Camp, without the plus, within the restrictions in place at the time. In July this year, we expect to be able to do much, much more including live entertainment (at last!).

We have nonetheless built Base Camp Plus to fall within the Step 3 restrictions that came into force on 17th May 2021. We are limiting capacity and anticipating that there will be some restrictions still in place for events in late July (some social distancing and face coverings in covered areas, for example). If the unlocking - currently scheduled for 19th July 2021 - goes to plan and it is acceptable to the powers that be, however, we may relax some rules in line with national restrictions.

We are really excited about this new event. It promises both intimacy and a community spirit, but most importantly, it feels do-able. We are still being cautious, but we do intend to party!

What is Base Camp Plus?

  • Base Camp Plus is an intimate socially distanced camping festival. The fact that the whole festival has been designed to fit within Step 3 restrictions means the event plan is as robust as possible in the face of changing circumstances. For Base Camp Plus to not go ahead, there would need to be a reversal, rather than a delay, of the Government’s unlocking roadmap. The festival will see the return of live music, comedy, shows, workshops, wellbeing and Wilderwild activities to our usual home of Baldersby Park, complete with an outdoor main stage, a bar, and other pop-up performance spaces. See below for a full programme of the entertainment that is on offer for the weekend.
  • Camping is all about space. Every camping group of up to 6 people will have their own 12m x 12m camping pitch. You park in your pitch and each pitch has it's own loo including on board water for washing. A pitch is for a car plus tent OR a car plus caravan OR a campervan, and you can book a pitch next to your friends. Caravans can have an awning and campervans can have extra tents. Electric hook-up is available only for caravans and campervans. You can even book a glamping option.
  • Facilities in Baldersby Park. We are using all 90 acres of Baldersby Park - camping pitches arranged in a grid, a festival arena, an 'off the lead' dog exercise area, and space to roam free (play frisbee, football, cricket - bring your games clobber!). This year, there are plenty of food and drink vendors plus our own well stocked bar. You can have a BBQ and also following our guidelines you can bring one well behaved pooch. You are free to come and go as you please from Baldersby Park and explore North Yorkshire.

Now let's talk bicycles. If your kids want to bring their bikes, we can't think of any reason not to, especially ones that will lock safely in the car. If you are a lycra road warrior, we have a couple of routes (#1 and #2) which a kind soul has put together if you fancy rolling out. If you're more of a mountain biking sort, speak to us over the weekend and we'll point you in the right direction (taking into account your skill level).

Any questions as always give us a shout on

Ticketing and Pricing

Base Camp Plus will work like this - you pay for your pitch and then in addition you pay for each occupant of that pitch.

Like last year's Base Camp, a pitch with a loo and space for one vehicle will cost £200 and there will be an extra cost on top of this to cover the cost of the extra festival entertainment (the plus in Base Camp Plus, if you will).

Prices are as follows:

  • Camping pitch for a maximum of 6 people, with 1 toilet & 1 vehicle space, 3 nights - £200
  • Weekend ticket per Adult (18+) - £60
  • Weekend ticket per Child (16/17) - £40
  • Weekend ticket per Child (under 16) - £20
  • Weekend ticket per child (5 and under) - FREE
  • Dog pass (only 1 dog per pitch please) - £20
  • Live-in vehicle electric hookup - £70

For a typical family of 4, the weekend will therefore cost £200 + £60 + £60 + £20 + £20 = £360.

All attendees must have a designated pitch. You cannot attend with only one adult weekend ticket without a camping pitch, for example.

Now the most important part, if you are coming with other families or friends. It is easier for all concerned if you book your tickets as a group. This is the best way to ensure that you all end up on adjacent pitches, so nominate an individual to be in charge of booking the tickets for everyone and settle up between yourselves afterwards. Otherwise, book pitches individually and email us all ticket confirmations so that we can group you together by June 15th.

For each pitch you buy (for yourself or on behalf of someone else), we will ask you for the lead person's name, email address, postal address and contact number. Please have this information to hand when you book, as you will not be able to add it later.

If the event cannot go ahead for any reason, you will be entitled to a face value refund of your tickets (minus the booking fee at approximately 3.5% of order total).

Tickets for Base Camp Plus have now sold out, however, we do have a waiting list that you can sign up to here should places become available.

Glamping options are available for Base Camp Plus via Tangerine Fields. Just order your pitch as normal, then order your glamping option and we'll make sure your glamping tent, yurt or tipi ends up on the correct pitch!

Things to bring

Of course, bring all the usual camping clobber but here are some things to bring specific to Base Camp:

  • We will have a large array of amazing food and drink available in the arena and campsite, but you may wish to bring the basics to save on additional expense.
  • It would help us if you could bring some water from home in a large container. We will have fresh drinking water, but it might be slow going with queues due to extra COVID precautions.
  • Due to COVID mitigations there will be no showers onsite, so pack wet wipes accordingly (plus our loos do have sinks with water).
  • Hand sanitiser and face masks.
  • The Base Camp site will be cashless so bring your cards :)
  • Footballs, frisbees, cricket bats, tennis rackets, playing cards, you get the idea.
  • Bicycles, but have a think about keeping them safe either in your car or attached to it somehow.
  • BBQs that are off the ground so as not to damage the grass.
  • If your hound is joining you for the weekend, dog lead, poo bags plus a dog stake to stop them wandering whilst on your pitch.

Bring the dog!

Are you a dog owner that can’t bear to leave your best friend at home? Well, move over Woofstock and Dogfest because Base Camp Plus is officially a dog-friendly festival! We let you bring the puppies along to Base Camp in 2020 and they were so cute that we couldn’t say no this time around either.

There is plenty of space for dog walking in Baldersby Park and even more wonderful rural walks in the surrounding areas. In fact, we might even host a dog show to decide once and for all who is the best-looking pooch in the park. What a treat!

Dogs on a lead will be allowed in the main arena, but it goes without saying that you should please ensure they are well behaved and that you always clean up after them.

Site Rules

We have conceived Base Camp to be safer than a trip to the supermarket regarding COVID infection but please read these site rules carefully.

  • You must not attend the weekend if you have been experiencing Covid symptoms or if you have been instructed by NHS test and trace to self-isolate.
  • Practice social distancing in communal areas, wear mouth coverings in undercover spaces or whilst queueing and sanitise regularly to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Respect each others space, including our staff. Please do not wander into anyone else's pitch without their consent - some of our audience will be shielding.
  • Please do not wander beyond the boundaries of Baldersby Park, unless leaving via a designated exit to explore the surrounding areas with your group. The usual festival sports ground area is out of bounds this year.
  • You cannot bring your own alcohol into the arena. We will have a well stocked bar serving drinks at the correct temperature!
  • We will have an 11pm noise curfew. Please respect your neighbours who might not be as full of beans.
  • A pitch is intended for a group of no more than 6 people.
  • Base Camp Plus is intended as a family-friendly event. Each pitch must be occupied by at least one responsible adult over 25 years of age. We reserve the right to eject any campers who are not behaving in the spirit of the event.
  • Only Base Campers will be allowed onsite. Sorry, no external visitors who have not bought their own pitch.
  • We encourage you to wash up on your pitch and dispose of waste water in the tanks provided close-by, rather than empty on the ground.
  • Your car must be parked within your pitch, there will be no communal car parking.
  • Strictly no glass to be brought onsite please.
  • You can bring one well-behaved dog per pitch, but your hound must be kept on a lead at all times except in our dog walking field. All dog waste must be picked up and deposited in the bins. You should invest in one of those screw in dog camping stakes for sure :)
  • You can have a BBQ if it is above the ground and doesn't spoil the grass. Disposable BBQs must be off the ground. If you have a camping stove in a tent the maximum cylinder size is 2.7kg in gas weight.
  • If one of your party is suspected to have contracted the COVID-19 virus please get in touch with us asap to discuss options.

How to find Base Camp Plus

The post code for Baldersby Park is YO7 3BZ and this will get you close.

This year we are using all 3 entrances to the park for Base Campers. You will be emailed prior to the event which entrance you need to use, gate 1, 2 or 3. Entrances will be clearly sign-posted as you approach Baldersby Park.

Coming from North, South or West. The key to getting to us easily is to find junction 50 on the A1(M). Exit the A1(M) at this junction and take the A61 towards Thirsk. Take the first right on the A61 towards Baldersby St James. The festival site is signposted after 3 miles.

Coming from the North-East or East. Exit the A168 at Topcliffe going straight through the village turning right immediately after the bridge onto Park Road. The festival site is signposted after 1/3 mile.

Base Camp Plus opens at 10am on Friday 30th July and closes at 12pm on Monday 2nd August. Please do not arrive before 10am on Friday.

Due to the small size of Base Camp Plus, we can deal with accessibility issues on an individual basis. If you would like to make use of the facilities listed below or have any queries about whether Base Camp Plus will work for you or one of your party, please email us on

We can offer the following to Base Campers with access requirements:

  • Personal Assistant weekend ticket. If you are attending Base Camp Plus and are in receipt of DLA or PIP, you can claim a guest ticket for your personal assistant. Please email us a copy of your DLA or PIP award letter and a copy of your TicketSellers ticket purchase email. Having received this, we will send you an e-ticket for your Personal Assistant.
  • Accessible toilet. We can replace the standard portaloo provided on your pitch with an accessible toilet.
  • Mobility scooter, electric wheelchair and equipment charging. If you are staying in a live-in vehicle, we can provide free charging for equipment via an electrical hook-up. If you are staying in a tent, we can arrange to charge your equipment at our production office.
  • Storage for medication. We will have fridges for storing medication in our production office. Medication will need to be well labelled and bagged so that it is clearly identifiable when put in the fridge. Please notify the medics to collect your medication at a certain time.
  • Assistance dogs. Assistance dogs can attend Base Camp Plus free of charge. Please let us know if you intend to bring your assistance dog before arrival and please make sure the dog is wearing the correct signage to identify their legitimacy on site.
  • Stewards. All stewards, volunteers and security personnel have been briefed on our facilities. Please ask them for any advice or help you may need over the weekend. If they cannot provide an exact answer, they will be able to contact the correct person who can.

Please note that strobe lighting may be used at any time during Base Camp Plus.
